Sicily - Aeolian Islands
This trip to Sicily was certainly one of the most beautiful we've taken so far.
Firstly, because it's Italy, but also because the Aeolian Islands offer incredible diversity and a complete change of scenery...
On a whim, a last-minute travel desire, we booked a flight to Catania in Sicily. The Aeolian Islands being further north, after a journey by plane/train/boat (and a brief tour of the town of Taormina), we finally arrived in the promised land on the island that would host us throughout our stay: Vulcano.
These islands are all volcanic but very different from each other. We chose to stay on the same island the entire time and take day trips to discover the others: Lipari, Salina, Panarea, and the untamed Stromboli with its erupting volcano (a wonder to behold).
We stayed for a week, but we would have loved to stay much longer, as there is so much to do and discover.
