Engagement session in Porto

We had been talking about Portugal for a while (like many other destinations on our to-do list, for that matter). When we met Lucas & Mélina for their wedding consultation, Porto was central to our conversation because the young couple had just returned from there. We discussed an engagement session, and you guessed it, it took us about 5 minutes to agree that we would all go together. When I say ALL, I mean the couple, us, and even the DJ. When we commit to a wedding, we go all in, and we love to surround ourselves with vendors who share our passion. That's how part of the wedding team ended up going to Porto for 4 days.

Having your engagement session abroad adds a whole new dimension to the upcoming event and to our relationship with the couple and other vendors. We often say that we don't like to be just 'vendors' because for us, the important thing is that everyone feels comfortable; the photos will only be better for it. Therefore, the prospect of spending 4 days with our couple was obviously a golden opportunity to get to know them better.

Since this wasn't our first time spending a few days with "almost" strangers, we had no apprehensions; we knew everything would be great. After 4 days, we felt refreshed, not only because the sun was with us but also with our heads full of new memories.

The agenda for these few days included: city tours of Porto during the day, and shooting in the evening when the light is perfect (you know us by now, golden hour is the most important). So we had chosen a few nice spots for shooting, which we spread out over several days (because the beautiful light doesn't last long enough to move from one location to another)... we mainly chose to shoot in the city by the water, and we made a small detour to a beautiful beach not far away: Praia do Senhor da Pedra. Truly magnificent. All of this was punctuated by lovely evenings where we indulged in Portuguese gastronomy for next to nothing (it's really worth it).

It's now time to take a closer look at these images. You'll see the soft light in the photos that we love so much. It was truly a great pleasure to shoot there, and we can't wait to go back for more adventures.
